Albert-László Barabási’s scientific knowledge, creativity and the artistic activity emerging from these distinctly indicate the approach of a civilisational threshold. Transcending the scientific framework of his qualification as a physicist, he became a world-renowned network scientist and currently teaches at the medical university in Boston. The city’s university research laboratories and institutions are regarded as strongholds of contemporary natural-scientific higher education. Besides teaching, Barabási maintains connections with several leading galleries in New York, with his exhibition BIG DATA / networking the artworld at Postmasters Gallery achieving striking success in 2022.
Presenting works belonging to the contemporary genres of visual art and informed by an exceptionally innovative worldview, Barabási’s exhibitions are inseparable from his research. An important element of his creative practice is the artistic methodology and application of dataism employed at the preparatory stage. This serves as a precise mediating tool towards our present world as well as a source of the inspirational force radiating from Barabási’s personality.
