Borgó: The Eye of the Walking Stick

In truth, the walking stick is an item that is hardly used any more nowadays, in the so-called civilised world. But despite this, it has managed to worm its way stubbornly into people' emotions and into their consciousness. It is an axis mundi which can sometimes appear as a tool of creative power, (we need only bring to mind Moses' stick bringing forth water). Since my walking stick has accompanied me everywhere on my wanderings up to now, I started painting it after1990 as a vehicle for ideas and, as I believed it could see my life, I decided to call the paintings: The Eye of the Walking Stick. With this association of ideas I offer this exhibition, consisting mainly of large paintings, to the Ernst Museum.
