The program has been realised in cooperation of The Ernst Museum’s Dorottya Gallery and C3 Center for Culture & Communication with the kind support of the Royal Netherlands Embassy
Since the founding of the Netherlands Media Art Institute in 1978, an extensive collection of video and media art has been assembled, to which new works are constantly being added. In addition to its own collection, the Institute also manages the video collections of the De Appel Foundation, the Lijnbaan Center in Rotterdam, the Groningen Museum and the Kröller Müller Museum. The collections comprise more than 1900 works at present, varying from the earliest experiments by Dutch and international famed artists to recent productions by rising talents. In addition to renowned artists like Bill Viola, Nam June Paik and Gary Hill, there are internationally known Dutch artists such as Marinus Boezem, Jan van Munster, Pieter Engels, Dennis Oppenheim, Terry Fox, Wim Gijzen, Nan Hoover, Tajiri Marina Abramovic/Ulay, Ben d'Armagnac and Lydia Schouten. In the screenings in Budapest the selected works of the collection will be presented with the commentary of Heiner Holtappels director of the Nederlands Media Art Institute.
