National Photography Exhibition [Országos Fotómuvészeti Kiállítás]

Millennial exhibition series in Mucsarnok

curated by Gábor Módos and Éva Gelencsér In May 2001, concurrently with the Theatre Festival in Mucsarnok, a photography exhibition will open. It will signal the revival of an old and important tradition. The exhibition is organized by the Photography Section of the National Association of Hungarian Creative Artists together with the Society of Hungarian Press Photographers. The greater part of the photos exhibited will be chosen by a jury out of works submitted to a competition of the same title. The competition was meant to revive the tradition of photography salons, to give an overview of changes in contemporary photography, and to provide the winners with an opportunity to exhibit their works in an elegant environment. The main prize of the exhibition, sculptor Tamás Fekete´s "Golden Camera," will be handed over by the chair of the jury at the opening ceremony. Beside competitors´ works, photos of invited artists and members of the jury will also be exhibited. The National Photography Exhibition will represent a wide range of genres, from documentary through artistic to applied photography.
