Exhibitions of Yuko Shiraishi and Tamás Soós

Paintings

Curated by Ildikó D. Udvary Yuko Shiraishi, originally coming from Japan, currently resides in London. His meditative paintings can be best described in the relationships between color and proportion as well as plane and space in his images. The intellectual atmosphere and low-key formality of Tamás Soós´ work is related to that of Shiraishi in many aspects. The two artists met thirteen years ago in Budapest and since then they have been mutually following each other´s work. This exhibition provides an opportunity to create a dialogue between the two artists as well as concentrates on new meaning emerging from the juxtaposition of two artistic worlds. Years ago art historian and critic János Frank pointed out that as opposed to group exhibitions organized from "outside", a show that reflects the commonality between two artists whose works emerge from their own interior motifs has far greater value. Hopefully our exhibition is going to increase the number of such exhibitions.
