THE COLLECTION – LECTURE BY JULIA STOSCHEK

20 February 2014, Thursday, from 6 pm in the Auditorium In the closing week of the exhibition ENTROPY OF A CITY – Julia Stoschek Collection, the founder and owner of the collection Julia Stoschek visits Budapest again and holds a lecture about her collection, which, for the ten years since its establishment, has focused on time-based media art.

The collection with its approximately 600 art pieces is housed by a former frame factory in Dusseldorf and was made public in 2007. Each year different aspects of the collection are presented and documented in annual exhibitions.

Julia Stoschek is a professional collector as well as a member of several international Committees, including the Board of the KW-Kunst-Werke Berlin,the Trustee Committee of the Museum of Modern Art/ PS 1 in New York, and Tate Council in London, among others. Stoschek understands collecting as a contributory act, which involves acquisitions from contemporary artists and historical positions from the beginning of video art.

The lecture, presented at the Kunsthalle Budapest as one of the closing events of the exhibition, will cover such topics as the motivations of a collector and the thematic framework and presentation of the collection.
