Pixel Portraits on Hungarian MTV

For art to have a meaning, it must have an audience. For a work of art to be known, it must be made available to as wide an audience as possible. The opportunities museums and galleries provide for this my prove too confined when young artists discuss issues that are rooted in our own day-to-day life. In the spring of 2008, Hungarian MTV and Műcsarnok launched a joined project to introduce young visual artists – painters, sculptors, photographers – to a wider public.
In the series called Pixel Portraits, viewers can get to know 30 young artists.
The 30 short portraits offer a comprehensive overview of a young, but already successful, group of Hungarian artists; the series seeks to attain popular recognition for those who are worthy of it, who have already distinguished themselves at the start of their careers.

Pixel Portraits can be seen on MTV every Friday (at 11:00, 14:00, 16:00, 17:17 and 21:17) and Saturday (11:00), and as the last report in the Megapixel show, at 14:00 on Sundays.

The 30 Pixel Portraits will also be made available for viewing on Hungarian MTV’s website from December 1, where visitors can cast their votes for their favourite artists. The artists to earn most popular votes and a jury’s support will be featured at an exhibition in Ernst Museum in early 2009.
