Image Praxes 2 | FIEDLER | JANKOVICS | VÁRADY | LUKÁTS | GYENES

Just like the first Image Praxes exhibition of 2014, this second event in the series presents an ensemble of parallel, standalone displays that juxtapose diverse genres of “image making”. While previous exhibition focused on the interplay between painting and photography, and the results of the image maker’s individual experiments with an infinite number of possible perspectives, this year’s event concentrates on the special characteristics of different genres.

The informel painting created by Ferenc Fiedler in Paris is displayed alongside the deeply philosophical, contemporary figural art of Róbert Várady. In the Apsem we explore Marcell Jankovics’s graphics, animations and book art inspired by history and literature, with a special focus on the centenary of the Treaty of Trianon. Meanwhile, Andor Lukáts’s video installation leads us into a temporal and spatial cosmos of individual fates, while Alexander Gyenes’s chosen genre is an assemblage of his graphic, photographic and sculpted works generated through natural science. The overarching purpose of the exhibition is to reveal the metaphysical passageways linking the genres.
