Exhibition of Gyula Baditz

Gyula Baditz has been making his large-sized statutes from the traditional materials of sculpture, such as wood, stone and metal. Once his works reminds us archaic objects, as ritual things used by tribal civilization which are hanged up to a metal wire can be used as a drum or a string instrument. In his other works of art, we can recognize stylised traits of natural shapes and formations (The Palm, The Rabbit, The Water drop). Not only the recognizability inspires his art but rather to develop the more functious object which brakes the traditional border of the work of art. There is a stone-couch in a small Italian town, which is a good example for this, the shape of the object attracts people but because of its material it is unusable. His art can be described as knowing and understanding the material and at the same time he has a playful approach which makes the viewer think or get provoked.
